As one of Hollywood’s most in-demand writers, Jonathan Hensleigh punched the scripts for such 90s blockbusters as DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE, JUMANJI, THE SAINT and ARMAGEDDON. He directed the ultra-violent 2004 comic property adaptation THE PUNISHER.

Hensleigh is back with the Liam Neeson action pic THE ICE ROAD, a chase thriller set on the frozen lakes of the Canadian wilderness (currently in release across Australia; NSW and Vic, to be confirmed). From his home in Las Vegas, Jonathan Hensleigh spoke to Screen Watching about his latest alpha-male epic….

For many, Renny Harlin is the Hollywood blockbuster filmmaker of the 1990s. A Nightmare on Elm Street 4, Die Hard 2, The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, Cliffhanger, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Deep Blue Sea and, yes, even Cutthroat Island - his films were grand spectacles, filled with humour and emotion and, above all, a vivid eye for action.

Over the last decade, he’s become a truly international director, making crowd pleasing entertainment in his homeland of Finland, as well as Hong Kong, mainland China and, with his latest - the action/comedy. The Misfits - the stunning United Arab Emirates.

From Bulgaria where he’s currently shooting, Renny Harlin joined SCREEN WATCHING to talk to Simon about Ffinally working with long-time friend, Pierce Brosnan; being at the centre of '90s Hollywood; and, what his ambitions are for the future...
